The number of mobile devices and services within organisations continues to grow and with the changing nature of business these devices are moving around within organisations more than ever, leading to issues in managing activities, workflows and spend.

The cost of the mobile services & devices themselves represent a significant costBeyond these service & device costs, organisations often spend an inordinate amount of time and money trying to properly track, allocate and manage all of these as they are used by different people who come & go across various internal cost centres.

In fact this additional cost of purely managing all the mobile services & devices is revealed by Gartner that estimates that alone the mobile services cost is only a small part of the company’s overall mobility cost and Forrester pegs it at just one third of the total cost of ownership

Telstra’s investment in their systems to help navigate the management of services is significant and forward thinking, but alone it may not be enough for organisations where there is complexity.

To be efficient and maximise investment, an organisation can benefit from its own platform to:

  • Create efficient workflow internally between departments and externally with service partners

Ask yourself how much time it takes to do each task, from procurement, to reporting, to analysis, and even then, are you confident of the result?

  • Ensure all relevant information comes together in a single pane of glass.

Ask yourself whether in one place you can get a full understanding of the status and history, or does it take hours or days to understand the ecosystem?

  • Seamlessly and quickly be able to deliver the right level of accountability to the right people and departments in order to have strong governance.

Ask yourself, does your organisation and depts know who has every device and what the usage is?

  • And of course, deliver the right level of visibility over mobile device expenses in a timely manner for proper expense and security management

Ask yourself, do you know why your mobility costs have gone up versus the last month? In which cost centre? Due to which employee? And why?

In a mobile led world, managing devices and expense is not a traditional Telecom Expense Management requirement. Understanding a bill is one thing, but improving how you manage the overall asset class, and potentially across multiple carriers, is the most important thing. With the growth of mobiles, it is more important than ever for organisations to ensure they have a tool within their operations to efficiently take control.
