Platform Access Options

Accessing Your Bluewater CONNECT Platform

This document outlines the three primary methods you can use to access our platform and retrieve your information securely.

1. Single Sign-On (SSO)

Bluewater CONNECT offers a seamless Single Sign-On (SSO) capability through OpenID Connect and OAuth2.0 protocols. This allows you to access our portal using your preferred identity provider.

Benefits of SSO:

  • Use one login across multiple platforms
  • Centralized user management
  • Configurable access controls and permissions

How SSO Works:

  • When accessing the Bluewater CONNECT Portal, you'll be redirected to your internal identity provider.
  • Your identity provider issues an OAuth2.0 compliant token.
  • Bluewater CONNECT verifies the token.
  • A new token is issued from our internal identity provider, granting access to the platform.
  • If a user record doesn't exist, Bluewater can auto-provision the user.

Enabling SSO:

  1. Choose your Identity Provider (IdP):
    • Third-party vendors (e.g., Entra, Okta, Google, OneLogin)
    • Your own application
  2. Input the required fields in your portal settings.
  3. Test the configuration using a new or incognito browser.

Note: Our Implementation / Customer Success team is available to assist with setup if needed.

2. Email and Password Login (with or without MFA)

For users who prefer traditional login methods, we offer email and password authentication. This can be further secured with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) via SMS for an additional layer of protection.

Features:

  • Standard email and password login
  • Optional MFA for enhanced security
  • Password reset functionality

3. Authentication Links for Report Access

This method provides a convenient way to access specific reports without logging into the full platform with a password.

How it works:

  1. Users are set up in the Bluewater Connect Portal.
  2. When a report is ready, an authentication link is sent to the user's registered email address.
  3. The user clicks the link to request the report.
  4. A second email is sent with a link to access the report.
  5. The report link remains active for 15 minutes.

Benefits:

  • Quick access to specific reports
  • No need to remember login credentials
  • Time-limited links for enhanced security
